EXPLORE: Yankee Stadium

1 E 161 St, Bronx, NY 10451

Located in the South Bronx sits the home of baseball's New York Yankees, this iconic stadium, was reconstructed in 2009, and is one of the must-see places before leaving New York City. The Yankee Stadium is located one block North from the original old stadium at a cost value of $2.3 billion dollars, which was opened to the public on April 16, 2009, just 11 days after the 2009 MLB season began. As you walk into Yankee Stadium, you will notice similar details from the original stadium from 1923 and renovation of 1976, but this Yankee Stadium has much more open space and it has much better services, so that fans can get the full experience of enjoying the game and also learning its team history.

One of the important concepts for this stadium is called Monument Park, which showcases all of the legendary players that wore the Yankees uniform and were successful in helping the team win the World Series championship in their time. For example one of those legendary players is named Babe Ruth, he is known as the Greatest Baseball Player of all time. Babe Ruth was an Outfielder/Pitcher in his career, with a batting average of .342, a 714 Home Run, and RBI (Runs Batted In) of 2214.

How do I get there?

The Yankee Stadium is located at One East 161st Street in the Bronx, it is also near the Bronx Museum of Art. To get to the stadium you can use the number 4, or letter B, and D trains to East 161st Street station. Another way to get to the stadium is by bus and by using the Bx1, Bx2, BxM4, Bx6, and Bx13. Driving to the stadium via GPS or Google Maps will get you there and paid parking is also available. If you’re coming from the Northbound I-87, you use Exit 4 into East 149th Street/145th Street Bridge or Exit 5 into East 161th Street/Macombs Dam Bridge, and if you’re coming from the Southbound you only use exit 5 East 161th Street/Macombs Dam Bridge.

How is the Neighborhood?

The stadium has many restaurants like Flavas International Grill, US Fried Chicken, and a lot more restaurants surrounded by each other. If you are unavailable to watch the games at the stadium, you could go by some of their local bars and watch the games on their display televisions. Some of the best recommended spots are Yankee Tavern, which is a historic sports bar and restaurant, and it's considered one of the oldest bars around the neighborhood. Stan's Sports Bar, is a spectacular sports bar and restaurant, and this place that has served many years to hard-die Yankees fans to watch their beloved team and show off their loud and great energy. This neighborhood is a good area to enjoy yourselves regardless of whatever time of day or night.
