The yellow taxis are able to pick up passengers anywhere in the five boroughs, However, the apple green are allowed to pick up passengers in Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens (excluding LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport), and Staten Island.
The Yellow Taxis are owned by Medallion and the Apple Green are owned by Street Hail Livery Vehicles, both Taxi companies have the same fare structure.
